Bydgoszcz is home to NATO's Joint Force Training Center (JFTC) and the NATO Force Integration Unit (NFIU), making it the indisputable NATO capital of Poland. On Saturday, 14 October, soldiers gathered on the Mill Island in Bydgoszcz to celebrate the city's importance in Alliance operations and to mingle with the public. German Major General Wilhelm Grün, commander of JFTC, and American Lieutenant Colonel Scott Cheney, commander of 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, both delivered remarks to a bustling and vibrant crowd.
