Aerial Port of the Future
436th Airlift Wing
Feb. 14, 2017 | 1:48
Our Headquarters at Air Mobility Command is supporting a new initiative, "Aerial Port of the Future"! Over the past few decades there have been several studies, but few improvements to Aerial Port operations. Our functional teams continue to invest a lot of labor to meet mission requirements, but it's coming with a cost, too many injuries and disabilities. Dr. Donna Senft, AMC Chief Scientist, is leading the Aerial Port of the Future effort, working with several organizations including Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and the medical community to commission studies to improve Aerial Port processes and reduce injuries. This project will be looking at where and how to incorporate technology (autonomy, robotics, new systems, etc.) for 2035 and beyond. Dr. Senft is taking a team to view the latest technologies at a commercial Seaport and wants to bring them to Dover AFB to learn the Aerial Port business. The goal for the Dover visit is to observe our teams performing their normal daily operations along with pre-set demonstrations to assist the engineers in identifying areas for improvements.
