Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Robert B. Flowers speaks about Best Sapper 2024 competition and what it takes to be a sapper on Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, April 23, 2024. The Best Sapper Competition 2024 consisted of 50 teams of the most elite combat engineers in the U.S. Army for the title of “Best Sapper”. In 2018 the competition was renamed to "Lt. Gen. Robert B. Flowers Best Sapper Competition" to honor the legacy and extraordinary courage of this U.S. Army leader. Flowers held leadership positions as Battalion Commander of 307th Engineer Battalion , 82nd Airborne Division, and Brigade Commander of the 20th Engineer Brigade. He was the Commanding General of the Engineer School at FTLW and the 50th Chief of Engineers. (U.S. Army video by Sgt. Jacob Bradford)
