The Army’s Golden Knights is one of only three Defense Department-sanctioned aerial demonstration teams, along with the Navy’s Blue Angels and the Air Force’s Thunderbirds. There are about 95 soldiers on the team, which includes four parachute units, an aviation unit and a headquarters. The demonstration teams perform at more than 100 events per year. The tandem section is known for taking soldiers, celebrities and heads of state on jumps.
