Defense Department Support to FEMA COVID-19
April 29, 2020 | 5:30
U.S. Army Sgt. Roland Garcia, 501st Area Support Medical Company medical laboratory technician based in Ft. Campbell, Ky., tests a specimen for COVID-19 May 1, 2020, at Fort Devens, Mass. The new test is used by the Department of Defense to detect SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of COVID-19, within forty-five minutes. The quick results help military healthcare workers guide individual patient treatment, while helping state and local authorities combat COVID-19 in the New England area.
